A HOPEFUL NATURE

Art & magazines for dreary February days

February is almost over and I must admit, much to my shame, that it is my least favorite month. A lot of people I love dearly were born in February, and for that the month is a joy. But from a living standpoint, or a “should I get out of bed and go about my life” perspective, February is, and I cannot stress this enough—the worst.

The days are longer but not actually long. Here in the pacific northwest it’s one of the coldest months of the year so the promise of more daylight is often undercut by the damp cold. And should you be lucky enough to get some sunny days to punctuate the months long blanket of gray, the wind will likely be just cold enough that it slices through your beanie.

A small luxury in the winter is reading through magazines. I like stumbling on new artists, and there are so many people creating beautiful art with recreations and imagining new ways to connect with nature. These were a few of the things I enjoyed looking at on these dreary February days.
