A HOPEFUL NATURE

Growing buildings

Today I want to focus again on our built environment. I’m fascinated with architecture and how our built environment impacts our health and sense of well-being. If you’ve ever traveled or lived in different cities, you know that the way a city is set up and built has a huge impact on your ability to move around the city and shapes your experience of it.

The presence of nature within cities, including parks, buildings, and street design makes a city more enjoyable and livable. The practice of incorporating nature into what we build is called biophilic design. And today, I wanted to do a little visual tour of biophilic design.

I hope that seeing some of these designs that already exist help you feel hopeful that we can actually make different decisions and create change. What wonderful biophilic building designs have you seen recently?
